James Ng has been a member of the National Asian Peace Officers Association (NAPOA) for 19 years, serving on its Executive Board for 15 years, currently as 2nd Vice President. He began his law enforcement career with the NYPD in December 1997, assigned to the 42nd Precinct in the South Bronx. He later worked in the Auto Crime Division investigating international auto theft rings. In 2001, he was transferred to the Headquarters Security Unit, shortly before 9/11. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2008, Lieutenant in 2015, and is currently the Commanding Officer of the NYPD Printing Section. James is also an active member of the NYPD Asian Jade Society, serving on its Executive Board for 16 years, including a term as President (2010-2014) and his current role as 2nd Vice President since 2024.
